Orange Garden on Irving & Damen

The Orange Garden has been a favorite restaurant of mine, even before it was featured on The History Channel. A Cantonese staple on Chicago's Northside, it has withstood the test of time. In business for 70+ years at the same location, it's seen many things come and go, including cable cars on Irving Park Road. The art deco sign in front and neon signs in the window say it all.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign

You'd be blind not to notice the abundance of "old time" signs in Chicago. I don't know the exact "lingo" for these, but they're certainly everywhere. And disappearing with the deluge of condos and new developments moving in.

I can't be the only one who thinks these signs are groovy. Can I?

Stay tuned as I share pics of "old signs" from my neighborhood.
